Situated on the northern tip of Hilton Head Island, Hilton Head Planation overlooks the glistening blue waters and white sandy beaches of Port Royal Sound and Skull Creek. Set on nearly 4,000 acres of breathtaking natural beauty, the Planation is one of the largest and most age-diverse residential neighborhoods on Hilton Head. Although situated amid the many activities of a world-class resort island, the Plantation is a private enclave known for its security, many services, recreational facilities and programs, and emphasis on family lifestyles.
Golf has always been a Hilton Head tradition; with more than 20 premier courses, four of which are located within the community this tradition is unabating. The Planation is home to the Country Club of Hilton Head’s semi-private 18-hole golf course designed by Rees Jones. With 14 doglegs and water on 16 holes, playing Country Club of Hilton Head is an exceptional experience. Bear Creek Golf Course was Rees Jones’ first solo design. Stretching over 6,800 years, the course displays five different sets of tees to accommodate every level of golfer. The Oyster Reef Golf Course, designed by Rees Jones, is the course golfers go to when they are looking for a challenge. The course plays to more than 7,000 yards with a 139-slope rating from the tips. Dolphin Head Golf Course, designed by Gary Player, was the first to be built in the Planation. Player took full advantage of his choice of the magnificent land offerings at the Plantation and created a beautiful and challenging golf course.
For those less inclined to pick up a club, there are plenty of opportunities and facilities for recreation and social activities within the Planation. Spring Lake recreation area, a community park open to all HHP residents, features a swimming pool, 12 Har-tru tennis courts, bocce ball and playgrounds, as well as the Spring Lake Pavilion and Plantation House.
Seven miles of leisure paths wind through the plantation and around its many lakes and lagoons, some of which are stocked for fishing. Residents can also mingle with nature in the Cypress and Whooping Crane Conservancies and Skull Creek Marina has all the modern amenities boaters have come to expect with concrete floating docks accommodating vessels up to 200 feet in length along with 24-hour privacy and security.
Entering into Hilton Head Plantation you will be welcomed by luxuriant forests and sparkling lagoons. Very few homes are seen for over a mile from the entry. Within Plantation you can find anything from a modest, entry-level home to something larger, more aspirational, perhaps with a sweeping view of Skull Creek or Port Royal Sound, and everything in between.
When the nest empties and it’s time to downsize, The Cypress, a luxury retirement community is located within the plantation’s boundaries. All Plantation homes either have deep water, marsh, lagoon/golf, lagoon, golf or wooded views. Plantation offers something for everyone.
