Georgia & Florida’s Most Popular Destinations
This month in Golf Course Living we are going to take a look at a few communities in Georgia and Florida. While Florida has been the staple for golf course homes over the last 30 years with its warm winters and beautiful beach communities, Georgia is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations for retirees and second home buyers. Georgia offers seashore, mountain and lakefront golf course homes at a variety of price points and styles and unlike Florida, you will get a taste of the seasons much like the Northeast. There are hundreds of choices in these two southern states to choose from, let’s take a look at just a few.
A Taste of The Good Life
Living in a golf club community is a dream for many people, especially if you enjoy spending your days on the links. Of course, playing a round of golf whenever you want isn’t the only benefit homeowners receive from living in a community with a stellar golf course. There are many reasons prospective homeowners are seeking a golf course home address for their second home or retirement residence.
A Longer Healthier Life
Did you know that playing golf can add up to five years to the average life expectancy? After studying over 300,000 golfers, The Karolinska Institute in Sweden found that the mortality rate for golfers is a remarkable 40 percent lower than for those of the same age and socio-economic status. As if the scenic surroundings weren’t enough, having a house on a golf course can also lead to a longer life!
A More Relaxed Environment
When you live in a pristine golf course community it is very much like living in a sanctuary or park. Gently rolling greens, families of mature trees, ponds, lakes, fountains, and the occasional wildlife sightings welcome you on a daily basis. Plus, with advancements in golf course design, sustainable maintenance and management practices, course communities offer a safe natural environment to live and enjoy your surroundings.
Long-Term Sound Investments
A study by the Longitudes Group, a company that specializes in the role sports play in real estate decisions, found that homeowners who live in some of the best golf communities are faring extremely well in the homeowners market these days. The study also showed that golf course communities often hold their value better than other properties. Living on a golf course comes with many benefits, and knowing your home’s property value gets a lift on the fairways is one of the best benefits a homeowner can have.
Second Home or Retirement
A home on a golf course combines private golf course membership with the lifestyle of living in a golf course community. Golf courses encompass hundreds of acres of open space in park-like settings offering extensive living amenities and accessible open space for recreation and enjoyment. Once mostly viewed as retirement living, golf course communities have now evolved into wonderful amenity rich communities that offer owners a lifestyle unmatched by any other. Why wait until retirement to enjoy the ultimate living experience? What better place to live, raise a family and enjoy life, than in a private golf course community. Today, more and more home buyers are seeking more enriched living communities for both primary and secondary living. Today, developers and communities throughout the country offer golf community living at more diverse price points.
There are many of us who choose a second home on a golf course in their dream location to escape Northeast winters. For others living on a golf course and seeing all four seasons in is the ultimate living experience. For those fortunate enough to have the resources, having two homes is great. Like every journey in life, it begins with the first step.
